On Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of October Waag Society, Allard Pierson Museum, DEN and HvA organize the Digital Museum Lab (DML) Prototyping Party: a two day session in collaborations with Hackastory. On 19th of October the official kick-off takes place at the Allard Pierson Museum during which the first workshop is held and you will meet your team.
What will you do?
During the Digital Museum Lab - Prototyping Party you will work in multidisciplinary teams of culturalprofessionals on a prototype: a digital design or physical installation that tells the story of one of the museum pieces in a innovative way. You and your team will make this presentation. By using different brainstormtechniques, the specialty of Hackastory, you will come to a concept. After which you will build a functioning prototype with digital tools or fabrication techniques such as 3D printing and laster cutting under the guidance of designers, programmers and other creatives.
The focus is on how to enrich the visitors experience by connecting the digital with the physical environment. How do you connect a digital collection to a physical object in an exhibition space. How can techniques such Augmented Reality and 3D modelling for this? Can stories already be told before the museum is visited while creating impact afterwards? After the Digital Museum Lab - Prototyping Party you have learned new skills and tools to realize innovation and apply this in interdisciplinary culturalnetworks.
Cause of the interdiciplinairy character of the sessions we are not only looking for conservators but also front-end developers, designers and other people with great ideas. Because of this a selection might take place before participation based on your expertise.
