Project

Taskforce mixed reality

Mixed reality is the mixing of the real world and a virtual world created with the help of computers.

The Taskforce Mixed Reality had a dual research purpose. On the one hand, the interest was of a technological nature. Waag Society wants to keep up with all relevant technologies. On the other hand, the intention was to develop a vision on mixed reality and related technologies such as augmented and virtual reality in order to use them in projects.

The assumption was that such technology could be a valuable addition to our various domains, such as heritage and education.

The team has started to implement an interactive demo experience on Hololens glasses which brings the history of the Theatrum Anatomicum in the Waag back to life. During the process various tools and techniques were explored such as: Unity (Hololens application development), 3D scanning and modeling, voxel computer graphics and motion capture.
