Crowdsourcing is a specific sourcing model  in which individuals or organisations use contributions from Internet users to obtain needed services or ideas. Crowdsourcing was coined in 2005 as a portmanteau of crowd and outsourcing.


Everyone can participate in an online initiative to connect 5.000 old maps of Amsterdam to their geographical coordinates. This has partly emerged from the Heritage and Location project in which Waag participates.
