The first outpost of Waag: planet B, a place for artistic and public research at the Amsterdam Science Park. It is a place for expeditions in which citizens, artists and scientists work together on an equal footing for an inclusive and ecological future.
Planet B is located at the Startup Village of the Science Park, where innovative high-tech and science based startups are housed. Startup Village is a design by Julius Taminiau Architects and is inspired by Pop Brixton and the Container House Project, a pioneering community space in Brixton, London.
Besides the two monuments in the centre of Amsterdam, the Waag building and Pinto house, Waag now also has a space that is still in development. Planet B offers scientists, artists and citizens a 'greenfields' to develop symbolic and material responses to the social and ecological challenges facing us.
The aim is to establish a bottom-up 'laboratory as a museum' for the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam in 2025.
