Toolkit: Smart Kids Lab

How healthy is our living environment? What is the air quality like in the classroom and around your home, and how can you measure and improve it? And how polluted are the soil and swimming water?

In the Smart Kids Lab, children playfully learn to map their environment themselves by using self-made simple instruments. Offering hands-on ways, children can interpret their immediate environment at home and at school using experiments, tests and homemade sensors.

The Smart Kids Lab was developed by Waag within the Making Sense project, in collaboration with Cinekid and the RIVM. From this collaboration, we built an online platform, on which all tests and trials from the Smart Kids Lab can be found in two languages. You can use this toolkit for free, for instance as a primary school teacher for your class or to undertake a fun and educational activity with children between 8 and 12 years old.
