Are you looking to meet interesting startups like yourself, talk to people with innovative ideas? Apps for Europe, ODIne and Finodex invite you to join our startup acceleration event to share experiences and find out more about opportunities Europe has to offer. We want to help startups that use or generate open data take the next step, and show the potential of this enormous public resource.
Both Finodex and ODIne are offering exiting funding opportunities for businesses that show the real social and economic value that open data is generating. Both programs offer seed funding between 10K and 170K, including support, coaching and connection to a network of investors and accelerators in Europe.
Our event will feature speakers from interesting startups like BikeCityGuide.org and Allryder.com. We are happy that Nicholas Zimmer, chairman of the Technology Foundation will be our keynote for the evening.
The European Commission has been promoting the economic potential of open data for many years, and estimates the economic value to be billions of euros. Open data is an invaluable resource for the European economy. In the past years the European Commission passed legislation mandating that governments throughout Europe open up their data.
While it started as an activist movement - attracting 'hackers' to work with the limited data available at the time - open data has since become a subject of policy for many cities in Europe. Not only has the amount of data available grown tremendously over time, but the quality of that data is ever increasing. This development makes it possible for developers, startups, and entrepreneurs to create not only apps, but also sustainable services that can easily be scaled to reach citizens in across European cities.
