A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including subject-matter-experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.


Tussen 4 en 6 februari heeft Waag het Spaarne Gasthuis ziekenhuis ondersteund bij het organiseren van een hackathon. Bij deze hackathon stond één vraag centraal: hoe maken we Spaarne Gasthuis een nog meer senior-vriendelijk ziekenhuis?

During the weekend of 12-13 December, Waag opened its doors to the Digi.Bio team together with a group of biohackers, for a microfluidics hackathon. They are one step away from democratizing diagnostics by making them hackable not only for scientists, but also for amateurs interested in digital biology. The group of pioneers worked non-stop for two days on the digital microfluidics lab project and managed to get some droplets moving!


How do biological entities and digital algorithms relate to each other? How could the study of such interaction be visualised? And what would be the applications and the implications which could derive from such study? Which disciplines could be affected?

Tijdens de Hackathon op 29 juni bij de gemeente Amsterdam viel 'HuisMatch' in de prijzen als de beste (prototype) app ontwikkeld op basis van de CitySDK mobiliteits-API. Tijd om eens te kijken wat deze app in petto heeft!
