Bas van Abel (Creative director Waag) bezoekt van 9-11 mei de Design incubator Nova Iskra in Belgrado (Servië) voor een Open Design seminar. Bas van Abel zal er een lezing over Open Design geven, alsmede een introductie van Waag. Nova Iskra is een ruimte van ca. 350 m2 in het centrum van Belgrado, dat de werkruimte zal worden voor 18 industrieel ontwerpers (met een focus op meubelontwerp). Het centrum beoogt een verbinding te leggen tussen ontwerpers en en het bedrijfsleven. Nova Iskra wil tevens een publieksfunctie vervullen de komende jaren met een educatief programma gericht op innovatie en design.
Bas van Abel zal een presentatie geven op basis van de publicatie Open Design Now, het eerste standaardwerk op het gebied van Open Design dat vorig jaar verscheen in samenwerking met partners Premsela en Creative Commons Nederland. Het bezoek aan Nova Iskra wordt mede ondersteund door de Nederlandse ambassade in Servië.
Design Incubator NOVA ISKRA is an independent, innovative and self-sustainable platform for the professional development and affirmation of young industrial and furniture designers. NOVA ISKRA will officially open its doors in spring this year, becoming a place where creative encounters and exchange, mutual support and joint ventures happen on regular basis. The goal of NOVA ISKRA is to create realistic and sustainable connections between designers and manufacturers that will result in products, which should besides enriching domestic market with their cutting-edge design and quality of production, become competent on the global level, as well. NOVA ISKRA will provide its members with logistic and educational support in the wide spectrum of activities: from initial idea to the realization of every individual product, design development, copyright protection, market positioning, PR strategy, and further aspects of the process in question.
NOVA ISKRA is intended to support young designers at the beginning of their professional carriers, from various domains such as industrial design, furniture design, architecture, interior decoration, graphic design and all other creative fields that can find their practical use within the manufacturing sector. With its unceasing affirmation of advanced and innovative concepts and approaches NOVA ISKRA wishes to inspire young design students - potential members of NOVA ISKARA Design Incubator in the years to come.
