MakeHealth @ Re:publica

Paulien Melis of Waag will give a MakeHealth workshop at Re:publica 17 in Berlin on May 9th. The workshop will be held at the maker space venue of the conference.

MakeHealth: create your personalised health tool. What if your wheelchair doesn’t have a grip to grasp round objects? What if your finger splint falls off your finger every time you wear it? What if you need a special bike that supports your back, and you can’t buy it? There is a mis match between healthcare solutions currently on the market, and the healthcare solutions that are needed by users. A lot of solutions don’t fit the needs of users, are too expensive or not on the market. Then what?

In MakeHealth we believe that every citizen is able to design, develop and make a personalised solution or medical device that benefits their personal health and wellbeing. In this short workshop we want to share some examples of personalised solutions (developed with digital fabrication tools like 3D printer, laser cutters etc.), but challenge you to create your own personalised health tool. What ideas or solutions can you bring?
