Recently, the new book "Performance as Interface | Interface as Performance" of artist and researcher Marloeke van der Vlugt was presented during the Play/Perform/Participate conference in Utrecht. Dick van Dijk of Waag received the first copy. Within her residency at Waag's Creative Learning Lab, Marloeke van de Vlugt developed the embodied learning installation 'Cylinder-Stairs-Seesaw'.
Her new book is published at International Theatre & Film Books in Amsterdam.
Performance as interface, interface as performance is a fascinating journey through artistic processes of the Dutch artist Marloeke van der Vlugt, illustrating how technological development and artistic expression intertwine in her practice in various ways. As Marloeke's work searches for new forms of author-spectator relationship, the book also augments the reading experience by introducing soundscapes from the performances discussed. Instead of analysing the finished products we get to witness personal thinking and design processes behind each project. Highly recommended for any interactive performance student, educator or practitioner!
