Venue hire: the Waag

In the heart of Amsterdam, in the middle of Nieuwmarkt, you will find the medieval weigh house: the Waag. This striking 15th-century monument is a breeding ground for social innovation.

It was once the gateway to Amsterdam and home to the guilds of painters, builders and surgeons. Tsar Peter the Great visited renowned anatomist and botanist Frederik Ruysch here, and the surgeons' guild performed their research in the magnificent anatomical theatre. We offer a unique opportunity to rent our spaces for meetings and events, with extensive support.

Many organisations previously chose the Waag as their event location. We standardly provide vegetarian catering, adaptable to your needs.

Waag offers technical and audiovisual support. Among other things, the Waag has the highest bandwidth in town. We would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

How to reach the Waag

The Waag is easily reachable by public transport, car and even by boat. It is an ideal central location for meetings, conventions, meetings and presentations.

Accessibility

As the Waag building is a protected heritage site, it is unfortunately not equipped with a lift. Please note that the second staircase to the Theatrum Anatomicum is very steep.

With its original paintings in the dome, the former anatomical theatre is the heart of the Waag. Its atmosphere will ensure your meeting, gathering, training or drinks reception is an inspiring event.

Meeting room: Mason's Guild (1st floor)

Once the exclusive domain of the guild masters, the 'Metselaarsgildekamer' (Mason's guild room) is perfect for small-scale presentations and (boardroom) meetings.
