Waag Futurelab joins the network of STT

Waag Futurelab joins the network of the Netherlands Study Centre for Technology Trends (STT). Both parties have been committed to designing a better future for decades, and are now entering into a reciprocal collaboration.

Part of the cooperation includes Waag's participation in The Future Chamber (De Toekomst Kamer), a think tank of government organisations, knowledge institutions, market players and civil society and an initiative of STT. ‘Over the past 30 years, Waag has built up a unique and leading position in the field of research, art, design, technology and social issues,’ said STT director Rudy van Belkom. ‘This makes Waag a valuable addition to the STT network.’

‘The alternative visions of the future that STT formulates are of great importance for a better, value-driven future.'

- Marleen Stikker

Waag director Marleen Stikker is also looking forward to the collaboration: ‘The alternative visions of the future that STT formulates together with its network are of great importance for a better, value-driven future. We are happy to contribute from our vision on technology and social issues, as well as the role that culture and creativity play in these.'

About STT

For more than 55 years, STT has worked on long-term foresight studies and investigates the possible influence of technology on a variety of social issues. STT does not make predictions, but describes alternative futures.

About Waag Futurelab

For 30 years, Waag Futurelab has contributed to the research, design and development of a sustainable, just society. By collectively researching emerging technology, and questioning underlying cultural assumptions; by designing alternatives on the basis of public values; and by developing an open, fair and inclusive future together with civil society.
