What happens to cleaning products after they disappear down the drain? Many contain substances that are difficult to break down and remove from wastewater. All while clean water is becoming increasingly scarce. On Thursday 5 November, during Waag Open, you’ll make your own cleaning products that leave less harmful substances in our wastewater.
What do you actually need to get your home clean, and which ingredients can you use? During the workshop, we look at cleaning through the lens of water and explore what you can do with different ingredients. This way, something as ordinary as cleaning can also contribute to cleaner water.
During the workshop, you’ll make different cleaning products, from sprays to scrubbing pastes. Using ingredients such as lemon, vinegar, baking soda and soap, you’ll experiment with properties such as acidity and abrasiveness. Herbs, plants and kitchen scraps can be used to add fragrance. You’ll exchange recipes and knowledge with other participants and take your own cleaning products and recipes home with you.
Do you have an empty spray bottle or small jar at home? Bring it along! We only have a limited number of bottles and jars available.
