Impact measurement in the cultural sector is still often done the traditional way: counting visitors. But does this tell the whole story? The audiences of cultural institutions do more than just visiting. They take part in workshops, make their own art, listen to podcasts, contribute to conversations at meet-ups, and much more. They are not just visitors, but also makers, users, listeners, readers, students, etc. Shouldn't we also include that when talking about reach and impact?
It seems to be widely accepted in the cultural sector that audience size should not be seen as the ultimate indicator of success. But actually changing this, is easier said than done. MOKER / P_Oi, the platform for presentation and development institutions in Amsterdam, started looking for other ways to visualise audience reach. On 14 December, they will present their findings. We will also discuss bottlenecks and the practical applicability, together with funders and cultural institutions such as Waag.
This programme will be held in Dutch.
