Floortje Willemse is a project developer at Waag Futurelab's Life research group. She works on projects related to regenerative technologies that contribute to resilient and sustainable societies.
After studying Art and Economics at the HKU and obtaining a master's degree in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Floortje worked at the architectural firm KCAP (Rotterdam) and urban consultancy Gehl (Copenhagen) as Business Development Coordinator. There, she supported the development of urban projects that focus on the human dimension and social sustainability.
Floortje has a strong interest in equality and representation within the design and knowledge sectors. In her master's thesis on gender inequality in architecture, she investigated how power relations within design practice are reflected in the built environment. This interest closely aligns with Waag's broader mission to shape technology and innovation in a way that does justice to diversity, sustainability, equality and social engagement.
