Future Heritage Lab

The 21st century calls for cultural heritage institutions to transform their products and behavior in relation to changes in contemporary society and changing visitor expectations. The Future Heritage Lab sees heritage as a dynamic concept, where people interact freely with objects, stories and associations to create new meaning, to  increase the public's engagement with collections and to relate them to their social, historic and contemporary context.

The Lab has been working in co-creation with artists, researchers and large and small museums and archives to develop interactive installations, applications and methods to change the way we experience heritage. The goal is always to create an actionable perspective for audiences and professionals, and to let heritage play its role in enhancing identity, social cohesion and creativity.

Future Heritage Lab is made possible by a subsidy from the Creative Industries Fund NL.
