The Fabricademy (Textile Academy) focuses on combining the knowledge of traditional and future craftsmanship to work towards new ways of designing and producing for the slowly changing textile and fashion-industry. We will investigate how the textile and fashion industry can benefit from new technologies, processes and business models.
The Fabricademy (Textile Academy) is for fashion, textile and material designers, researchers, artists, engineers and all creatives interested in exploring topics surrounding the textile and clothing, working inside and outside the industry. The workshops will give you the tools and the shared knowledge to develop your own in depth research project in the TextileLab. The lessons will touch upon topics such as textile dyeing with living bacteria, digital pattern drafting, 3D scanning, 3D printing and textile manipulations and material development.
The Fabricademy (Textile Academy) is part of the TextileLab Amsterdam and of the European project Textile and Clothing Business Labs (TCBL). In the TextileLab Amsterdam we focus on the unethical and environmental unfriendly realities of the current textile and clothing industry. At Waag we want to explore alternatives for both the changing values in the industries as innovate the design and production process. With TCBL new ways of designing, making and co-working within innovative production processes and business models in the European textile and clothing-industry are explored.
The program brings together the knowledge and experience of the FabLab Amsterdam, the Open WetLab, the TextileLab and the network of the TCBL. The Textile Academy is closely connected to the Textile Dialogues programme and TextileTools.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 646133.
