Interactive sandbox

Indispensable at every nursery school or kindergarten: the sandbox. Creative Learning Lab enlightened the sandbox with colours and animations in the project 'Animaatje'.

Children are in contact with new media in a very early stage. They are facinated by moving images from computers and television. It is a pity that this experience is limited to the screen. Animaatje, an interactive sandbox, aimed to change to this situation. By using an infrared pen, children could enrich their creations in the sandbox with colourful drawings and animations. Animaatje puts a digital layer over the sandbox. With this projection technology, children could bring their expression and interaction skills to a new level.

Animaatje was one of the projects of Creative Learning Lab within the innovation programme of Kennisnet for small-scale innovative experiments with ICT in education. (The software used Flash is no longer maitained).
