Bert studied computer science at Eindhoven University of Technology and Utrecht University, where he specialized in computational geometry and data science, and studied cartography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bert graduated on research done at the map development team at TomTom, Amsterdam.
Bert's interactive map of all buildings in The Netherlands gained international coverage in 2013. Bert also initiated Maptime Amsterdam.
