FairBnB #6: prototype proposal and manifesto
In this FairBnB Meetup we will present the prototype made by the students of the Human Centred Multimedia at the University of Amsterdam's Master Degree in Information Studies.
It has been developed with the feedback from our last meetups and will be presented in the AUX '17 symposium on February 2nd. We will also review the FairBnB manifesto, currently in progress, and we will inform you about an open call to which we are planning to apply for. In the 2nd part of the meetup we will continue with the Platform Design Toolkit, in the last step before making a definitive business plan.
What is FairBnB?
FairBnB is a movement that seeks to encourage vacation rentals that comply with the principles of a fair, non-extractive and collaborative economy. Some of the key questions are: How could these activities be managed to be beneficial to local initiatives and be kept from extracting values only for investors and speculators? How could they be managed so that visitors are encouraged to stay in those areas where they are not a disturbance, but beneficial to the neighbourhood?
