Today is the international day against racism and discrimination: a good time to reflect on the ways in which technology reproduces and reinforces existing racist structures, but can also be used to organise resistance and solidarity.
In Shalini Kantayya's film Coded Bias, racist biases of algorithms are exposed, and we see how researcher Joy Buolamwini campaigns against the implementation of these systems. The film is available on the streaming platform Netflix.
