The British economist Kate Raworth visited the Waag to discuss the application of Doughnut Economics with city makers and councilmen from Amsterdam. Raworth is in The Netherlands to talk about her bestseller 'Doughnut Economics' (2017) at various events.
Raworth presents an alternative economic model in which economic growth is not an end in itself, but the future of our planet is the starting point. The doughnut economy stands for a new circular economy in which our economic activities grow within limits. Over the past few months, Waag organised several 'Doughnut & Tech Design' sessions in which participants worked on applying the doughnut principles to technology.
At the Waag, Kate Raworth met with a number of city makers and councilmen to discuss the future of Doughnut Economics in Amsterdam.
Kate Raworth will be present at a number of events these days.
- Monday June 18: at the Dutch House of Parliament (Tweede Kamer) to explain the need for alternatives to the current economic system.
- Tuesday June 19: at the Balie during 'Creating a 21st century economy' (sold out).
