The documentary Talking Plants & Morning Urine follows three young designers after winning the Designers and Artists 4 Genomics Award (DA4GA). The award offered them a unique opportunity to work with scientists on the creation of a BioArt design. Watch the interaction between scientists and designers, how designers explore the boundaries between science and design, and how they translate their initial concept into a tangible object.
Besides focusing on the process of making this design, the film offers a view on what it means to be a designer working on the frontiers of unexplored territory. Discover how the designers combine scientific knowledge with their own ideas; what they expect from the collaboration and what they hope to achieve when their work is completed.
The film shows how the designers are inspired by science, how their inspiration turns into questions they want to explore, and how this exploration results in a BioArt object. The film features designer Tiddo Bakker & scientists from the Centre for BioSystems Genomics Designers and Susana Cámara Leret and Mike Thompson & scientists from Netherlands Metabolomics Centre.
This documentary is made by Bromet&dochters commissioned by CSG Centre for Society and the Life Science.
