The winners of the innovation contest in healthcare (mHealth) are improving malaria testing, hospital visits by elderly and speech options for the voiceless. The Mobiles for Good Challenge, held by Vodafone and Waag in 2012, has resulted in three winners, that will develop:
- A malaria test that delivers results in 40 minutes instead of three weeks and will be a first tester on the go;
- An app by a surgeon of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam that improves the conditions when elderly visit the hospital;
- A speech app that will enable the voiceless to use their voice again.
