AUIW: Makers Movement 3D Printing

This event is (mostly) English spoken.

Open is the future. During this afternoon you will exchange your trusted views on the world with those of creative thinkers and makers. We will outline the future, but we will also show you how close some of the expected changes actually are.

We will focus on open design, open hardware, digital production and 'networked local makers spaces'. Using case studies, we will show you how far Amsterdam currently is in this ‘revolution’. For example, when it comes to 3D printing with living materials, locally produced houses or open hardware in healthcare.

We will investigate which infrastructures are needed: from Fablabs, to tech shops or 3D hubs. And what skills we, and our children, need to develop in order to be able to survive and grow in such an ‘open future’. How do we incorporate new tools such as e-learning, serious gaming or 3D printing in our teaching methods and in the classroom?

Moderator: Frank Kresin (Waag)
