European Makerweek

29-5-16 23:00 - 4-6-16 23:00
Several locations around Europe

There is a lot to discover during the European Maker Week! Amazing events will be held around Europe and you are invited you to join them, because everyone can be a maker. Fablab Amsterdam will be open on Saturday for all makers. Come in and create your own project, use our makers guild to finish your design or hire one of our digital machines.

European Maker Week is a celebration of makers and innovators all over Europe. All the FabLabs, Makerspaces, Hackerspaces, Schools and University Labs, Research Centers and generally, all those Institutions that work with passion within the maker world, will organize events and activities between May 30 and June 5. Ideas, projects, DIY, prototypes, innovative products, inventions, robotics… and much more.

Pieter van Boheemen (Open Wetlab) will give a workshop in Brussels at the EU Maker Faire on May 31st. Fablabs, makerspaces and hackspaces are entering the domain of biology, making the required expensive technology low-cost and accessible to non-scientists. Such DIY devices, often referred to as ‘hacks’, enable citizens, designers and artists to explore the possibilities of working with living materials. In this workshop we will hack a webcam into a microscope and use it to examine several biological materials including your own DNA.
