It is not immediately noticeable, but in Amsterdam North, the future has already begun. The Buiksloterham neighbourhood is leading the way internationally in energy transition. Buildings in the neighbourhood are natural gas-free, and almost all obtain their energy in a different way. As a passer-by or resident, you see little of this now.
The project ‘Glimpses of green energy’ changes this. With paintings and art objects on the street, we provide virtual glimpses into the devices and installations behind the walls and in basements. In viewing tubes with animations, the operation of a thermal storage system, or the district heating network, is explained to you in a minute.
The new technologies can be seen! A walk along the different viewing tubes will tell you more about the different facets of the energy transition. This is how we make the energy transition tangible, and the discussion about it more concrete.
Are you coming to the opening? The Glimpses of green energy project will be officially opened on Thursday 13 June. We will present the installations to everyone involved: from experts to residents, and to neighbours.
When: Thursday 13 June, 16:00 - 19:00 hrs.
Where: Asterdwarsweg 5, Amsterdam Noord
