Kennis Maken is the knowledge-sharing event for everyone involved in citizen science. Whether you are part of a community initiative, a social organisation, a university, a university of applied sciences, a research institute, the public sector, or a funding body – this expo is all about sharing knowledge and connecting with others in the field. Showcase your latest project, share your insights and best practices, or reflect on the challenges within citizen science.
Citizen Science is in full swing in the Netherlands: more and more people are measuring, researching and discovering together - whether in the backyard, in the neighbourhood, or with a network of sensors spread all over the country. From curious local residents to committed scientists: the power of collaborative research is growing. With all this energy and initiatives also rise new questions such as: Where does Citizen Science really make a difference - in research questions, data, analysis or impact on policy?
How do we ensure reliable, accessible data that is used ethically? And how do we guarantee equal collaboration between all stakeholders? In short; What is the state of Citizen Science in the Netherlands? During this first edition of Kennis Maken: National Citizen Science Expo on Thursday 2 October 2025, we will answer that question with a broad programme.
Keep an eye on the website of Kennis Maken: Nationale Citizen Science Expo for more updates and information.
Waag Futurelab organises Kennis Maken in collaboration with Citizen Science Nederland and the Association of Professors of Applied Sciences.
