Every two years during Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt, artists throughout the neighbourhood open the doors of their studios for you to take a look behind the scenes. The artists will show their art, workspace and working methods. Waag Futurelab will also open her doors this weekend. Visit us on Saturday 10 June and Sunday 11 June between 12:00-18:00 hrs to see our labs and the artistic works that are being created here.
Waag offers globally recognised courses in biotechnology, digital fabrication and textiles. During Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt, students and artists in residence will show their work in our Wetlab, Fablab and TextileLab. In the Anatomical Theatre, we invite local artist Miriam de Lange to exhibit her work.
Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt is a unique opportunity to get to know Amsterdam's old city centre and the artists who live and work there in a different way. Besides the ateliers and the Waag, you can also visit the central exhibition in the Uilenburgersjoel. Admission is free.
