‘A quest for a new audience’
What if cultural institutions were to combine their programming in a single overview, while also making the livestreams and audiovisual recordings of their events available to everyone on a long-term basis?
In a two-day hackaton during Dutch Design Week we will work on a system to collect the wide range of cultural events in the Netherlands in the hope to make them more accessible and easy to find.
We will explore what a system can look like when the cultural sector itself is in control, without (too much) dependence on Facebook or YouTube. What technology is needed for this and how can the cultural sector collectively build this infrastructure?
Public Spaces, Waag, de NPO, Tetem, InScience, Pakhuis de Zwijger, Dutch Composers Now en STRP have released their data for this hackathon. What dreams do creators, venues and audiences have? On October 28, the hackers, hippies and hustlers will present their ideas.
Wondering which dreams will come true and which of them will be chosen as the winner? Come and see the results on Friday October 28 from 18:00-20:30 at the closing presentations in the Skybar of the Microlab at Strijp-S in Eindhoven. We will conclude the pitch evening festively with a DJ and drinks (from 20:30).
Living Lab Open Culture Data
In the Living Lab Open Culture Data project, we want to learn how existing services, such as NPO Start and the archive of Sound & Vision, can contribute to greater reach and better findability of the online supply of cultural productions. In doing so, we address common challenges, including the lack of standards for searching and archiving this digital content. Special attention is paid to the user and audience perspective.
Partners
Besides main partners Sound & Vision, NPO, PublicSpaces and Waag these are: Pakhuis de Zwijger, InScience festival, STRP, Tetem, Dutch Composers Now, and ArchiXL.
Innovatielabs
