Smart Hybrid Forms: Debate on plants and machines

Smart Hybrid Forms is the result of the two-year-research by artists Špela Petrič, Christiaan Zwanikken and scientist Eda Yilmaz on plant-machines. Researcher Alice Smits focused on their practice and interaction. This project is a combined NWO-SIA financed art-science collaboration between cultural and science institutions to carry out trans-disciplinary research on the interaction of plants and machines.

What does the interaction between plants and machines learn us about the supposed opposition between nature and technology?

During this final event, the artists will go into a debate together with scientists, project partners and the public, on their research, the installations that the artists have developed and about the emerging field in which art and science can meet each other.

With Michel van Dartel (director V2_Lab for the Unstable Media), Lucas Evers (Head of Program, Waag Future Lab), Raoul Frese (assistent professor department of physics and astronomy, Vrije Universiteit), Špela Petrič (artistic researcher), Alice Smits (director Zone2Source), Patricia de Vries (lector LAPS Rietveld Academie), Eda Yilmaz (postdoctoral researcher, physics and astronomy department Vrije Universiteit), and Christiaan Zwanikken (artistic researcher).
