During this workshop, you will learn how to give your old clothes a new lease of life. We will use a vinyl cutter to create designs that can be printed onto clothing.
Every year, millions of kilos of textiles end up in the wrong bin. This means that they are incinerated instead of being reused – even though the textile industry is already one of the most polluting industries worldwide. Reusing or extending the life of your clothes is a good solution to combat waste and pollution.
The good news is that we don't have to reinvent the wheel. The techniques for repairing clothing are centuries old, but are increasingly being lost. That's why Waags TextileLab has created instructables and manuals that teach you everything you need to know about repairing textiles. During this Waag Open, we'll be putting this into practice.
Come and repair your old clothes or give that old jumper a new lease of life or an upgrade. We will be working with the vinyl cutter and various materials will be available, such as sewing machines, embroidery supplies and haberdashery.
Important: bring your own old clothes if you want to print new fabric onto them.
