workshop waterquality testing

Waterwise

Is the water here clean enough to swim in? Why does water sometimes turn green? Do you care about water — or simply use it every day? And are you curious about how water quality is actually measured? Then this workshop is for you.

Waterquality is increasingly under pressure due to climate change, pollution, and the ways we shape and use our environment. At the same time, it is often difficult to tell how healthy water really is, even though it has a direct impact on people, animals, and ecosystems around us. That is why learning how to observe and better understand what is happening in and around water is becoming more important than ever.

During the workshop Waterwise, you will explore how water quality is monitored and assessed. Start inside the Waag and then we step outside. With simple tools and hands-on activities, you'll get to test and observe water yourself. You will learn how to recognise signs of pollution and discover how your own observations can contribute to wider water quality research. Along the way, you will gain practical skills and tools that you can also use to explore and monitor water in your own surroundings. In this way, you will gain more understanding of water quality and become wiser about water. In other words: Waterwise! Join us outside to observe, measure, and discover all the things water can tell you.

About Nehis Osagie

Nehis is a researcher at Waag. His work involves exploring how ecosystems function, and how they can inspire a world that is beneficial and just for all living beings.

Enforce

This event is part of a series of activities and workshops organized within the European Enforce project. Over the course of four years, Waag Futurelab explores how data collected by citizens can support environmental enforcement and help protect a healthy living environment. Waag leads one of eight case studies in the project. Read more about the Enforce project page, or check out our other events for this project on the official project website.

Waag Open

Every first Thursday evening of the month, Waag opens its doors. Join us to explore, discuss, and make. At Waag Open, we don’t just talk about social issues and the future — you’ll also get hands-on with something new. Try out tools and technologies you’ve always been curious about, like the 3D printers in the FabLab, or dive into something completely unexpected, such as exploring the building blocks of DNA in our biotech lab.

Accesibility

If you are tight on funds and want to participate in this event, please get in touch with nehis ⟨ at ⟩ waag.org.

The Waag building is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. View our accesibility information here.
