Dataphysicalisation for the 21st century

Data is everywhere, but the growing amount of data does not always lead to more insight. Data physicalisations are tangible representations of these data. A representation that you can see and touch makes it a lot easier to understand and experience the data.

In the 'Visibly smarter' project, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Waag investigate the potential value of data physicalisations for primary education.

Waag has developed a data physicalisations workshop for this project. This workshop is given to pupils of the St. Janschool in Amsterdam. Researchers at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences are studying how the activity of making data physical contributes to the development of communication skills, critical thinking and creativity of the children.
