As part of the Tracks4Crafts project, Waag's TextileLab is offering a 2-week residency for craftspeople. Between mid-April and the end of June, you will have the opportunity to explore the possibilities of our Hapticolor textile printer. During the residency, Waag's TextileLab team will support you with a few sessions to guide you through the machine’s protocols and workflow. Basic dye materials are provided.
This residency is an opportunity to bridge craft knowledge and emerging technology, to experiment at the intersection of material research and digital fabrication.
For who?
We are looking for a craftsperson with substantial expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Natural dyeing and/or textile printing
- Digital design and/or digital textile printing
When is the residency?
To be determined - somewhere between mid April and end June.
What is Hapticolor?
It's our experimental textile printer, that allows to print with natural dyes / inks onto textiles any digital design you can think of. While the printer is at work, you can tweak its movements, ink quantity or speed - to create each time new prints, that emerge through the interaction between the maker and the machine. The protocol is experimental and we are looking for adventurous makers, craftspeople, dyers or printers that are ready to push the machine's use to create interesting prints.

What costs are covered?
The residency covers travel and accommodation expenses up to a maximum total budget of €1,900 per resident.
