Waag and the Old Church (Oude Kerk) in Amsterdam are experimenting with and studying whether adding visual layers to the visitors' experience in the building will enhance their visit. We will start our research at the chancel, the space around the altar in a church.
Using Mixed Reality, which intertwines a real setting with elements of virtual reality, our aim is to connect present and past. Our experiment will show the possibilities and the applications of Mixed Reality technology, for instance, by using a hololens and a smartphone. We want to share our findings and transfer our knowledge to the cultural heritage world. The experiments will be performed in small try-outs and in written visual form through a microblog.
