In April, the international conference 'Identity Matters: enriching heritage to meet a new era' was held in Amsterdam. The conference about heritage and identity in Europe had over one hundred participants. The two-day programme existed of keynotes in the morning and 'urban safaris' to several locations in the city in the afternoon. The proceedings of the conference are now available as a pdf download.
The conference was the closing event of the EU RICHES project (short for: Renewal, Innovation and Change: Heritage and European Society). It explored the link between cultural heritage institutions and our personal experience of identity and belonging. How can cultural heritage provide value for an increasingly diverse society? How can cultural heritage be a force in the stimulation of creativity, education and the European economy?
Within this project, Waag also developed a special brainstorm toolkit for co-creation. The conference proceedings and the brainstorm toolkit can both be downloaded for free under a Creative Commons licence.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 612789.
