Saturday 7 September marks the launch of the new collective Culturele Wallen. Huis de Pinto, Museum Ons' Lieve Heer Op Solder, the Oude Kerk, Frascati, Flemish Culture House De Brakke Grond, Museum Rembrandthuis, W139 and Waag Futurelab are joining forces for a long-term collaboration.
New initiative
Culturele Wallen is a collective that unites art and culture in Amsterdam's old city centre and gives it a new platform. By making the programming more visible, joining forces and entering into innovative collaborations, the neighbourhood regains its cultural identity. And Amsterdammers will also enjoy coming back to the creative heart of our city. The eight cultural institutions participating in the launch form the core team, but are just a sample of the diversity of what the city centre has to offer. Small, large, theatre, art, modern, old and new - the inner city has been the beating heart of Amsterdam for over 400 years.
Launch 7 September
The collective will be launched on 7 September with the Culturele Wallen Route. The participating institutions will offer Amsterdammers a rich and mostly free programme of exhibitions, tours, performances, exhibitions, workshops, concerts and lectures. The official opening will take place at 11:00 hrs at Waag Futurelab. The route will be opened by Lotte Terwel, executive board of the Centre city district, together with several directors of the participating institutions.
