Organise an activity during the National Citizen Science Expo

On Thursday 2 October, Citizen Science NL, Waag Futurelab and the Association of Lecturers (VVL) organise the first ever National Citizen Science expo: “Kennis Maken” the event for everyone involved in Citizen Science. Are you working on Citizen Science and would you like to share your knowledge, results, challenges or experiences? Then this is your chance: submit your activity to participate in the expo!

Citizen Science is in full swing in the Netherlands: more and more people are measuring, researching and discovering together - whether in the backyard, in the neighbourhood, or with a network of sensors spread all over the country. From curious local residents to committed scientists: the power of collaborative research is growing. With all this energy and initiatives also rise new questions such as: Where does Citizen Science really make a difference - in research questions, data, analysis or impact on policy?

How do we ensure reliable, accessible data that is used ethically? And how do we guarantee equal collaboration between all stakeholders? In short; What is the state of Citizen Science in the Netherlands? During this first edition of Kennis Maken: National Citizen Science Expo on Thursday 2 October 2025, we will answer that question with a broad programme to which you can contribute!

Participate?

Present your latest insights, share your project or reflect on challenges. From mini exhibitions and building sensors to panel discussions and workshops, it is all possible at the Citizen Science Expo. During the expo, we will work together to further grow Citizen Science.

Want to participate in the programme? Send your activity to us at https://citizenscienceexpo.nl/organiseer-een-activiteit by Wednesday 28 May 2025. We will announce the programme in July.
