Smart combinations, working prototypes: Industrial Design at TU/e

New applications ask for smart combinations of expertise, inspiration and a lot of perseverance. All of these are widely available at the faculty Industrial Design (ID) of the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e). Here, within a number of themes, people work at new concepts and prototypes. The faculty is over ten years old now and had a tremendous growth within this period, extending to almost 170 employees and 550 students at this moment.

On May 30th, a delegation of SIG Creative Labs visited the faculty. SIG brings together around 100 people involved a creative workspaces and labs where new technology is developed, and visits interesting places and labs around The Netherlands. Jan Rouvroye had, on intercession of René Paré of MAD Emergent Art Center, composed an extensive programme in which seven departments were visited in three hours. Its was an inspiring visit, highly valued by all participants. After the summer other labs will be visited,
