Apps for Europe First Business Lounge

Apps for Europe invites you to apply for the first Business Lounge event on 29 June at an Open State Foundation hackathon that will take place at the City Council of Amsterdam.

If you are an open data startup and you are ready for the next step, this is your opportunity. We select the best open data startups to exclusively access the Business Lounge and meet experts, angel investors en growth accelerators. You will get the opportunity to pitch to an international jury that selects a local Apps for Europe Competition winner. The local winner will get a free ticket to pitch to an international network of investors at Future Everything in Manchester.

Business Lounge Amsterdam
The Apps for Europe Business Lounge is a one-day event taking place on 29 June 2013 in Amsterdam at an hackathon organised by Hack de Overheid/Open State Foundation, Kennisland and Waag. The aim of the Business Lounge is to support open data apps to move from a concept or prototype phase into a business start-up. The best applicants will be selected to exclusively meet experts in the morning and investors in the afternoon. You will also have the opportunity to pitch before an international jury that selects a local winner.

Confirmed investors are Google Ventures, Sanoma Ventures, RTL, Rockstart, Startup Bootcamp and Dialogue Incubator ABN AMRO Bank. Apps for Europe competition The Business Lounge prepares you to apply for the Apps for Europe competition, for which you can enter your app including a business model. Neelie Kroes, vice president of the European Commission is member of the Advisory Board. The local winner will get a free ticket to go to the internationally respected Future Everything forum in Manchester and pitch their open data startup for a network of investors, incubators, international companies, entrepreneurial nonprofits and social investors.

What's in it for you?
If you are selected to enter the Business Lounge Amsterdam, you will be exclusively invited to:

  • a personal 15 minutes intake session with experts in the Apps for Europe network who will advice you on your business idea
  • three 10 minute speeddates with angel investors en growth accelerators
  • pitch your App and business idea for an international jury that will select the local Amsterdam Apps for Europe winner

Hackathon
The Apps for Europe Business Lounge is part of the Hack de Overheid/Open State Foundation hackathon in which between 200 and 250 participants (developers, entrepreneurs, government) are expected to participate. During the hackathon developers will work on newly released open data sets and can win several Hack of the Day prizes. Parallel to the main program there will be a workshop track organised by various local thematic networks.
