On 11 December Waag, SURFnet and the UMCU will organize the pilot Future Operations, a worldwide first. We will stream footage from a surgery live and in 4K resolution to a lecture room.
Following an operation live, missing no detail. For medical students and professionals this could be a huge advantage, and with 4K live streaming we are trying to make this happen at the highest level. This pilot is part of the project CineGrid Medical, which is all about medical applications of 4K: UltraHD quality picture and sound. Because the images are four times as sharp as normal HD material, many new applications are possible: second opinions based on video footage or super sharp medical visualisations for instance.
The event can be attended on invitation only. Future Operations will be moderated by Frank Kresin.
