Would you like to work in the Fablab in the center of Amsterdam? In FabSchool Sessions you will learn all about the machines in the Fablab, such as a 3D printer or laser cutter, and create your own product. 'FabSchool Sessions' is a series of workshops for young people aged 12 to 16 years.
You may know what a 3D printer is, but do you know what you can do with it? And do you know other digital techniques? During the FabSchool Sessions you will learn all about it in hands on workshops. You will work with the machines in the Fablab and with different types of electronics. We will work on, for example, a new cover for your old mobile phone or stickers and templates with which you can spray graffiti on your pants or your bag. You will make your own design and your own product that you can take home.
FabSchool Sessions is a part of the project FabSchool and a sequel to FabSchool Kids, where we worked in the Fablab with children between 8 and 12.
Part 2: Open Design & Sharing Knowledge
In part 1 (21/01) we focused on the machines in the Fablab, such as the 3D printer or lasercutter. Part two will focus on sharing knowledge: tell the world what you are making in the Fablab and how you are doing this. In the second part of FabSchool Sessions, you will learn all about this and about designing processes. The third part (04/02) will be all about materials and techniques.
Costs
FabSchool Session comprises a total of six parts of two hours. In three sessions, you will work on a concept. You can sign up here for the first three sessions (50 euros per persons, materials are included in the price). If you have your own laptop, you can bring it to the workshops. Make sure that you have installed Photoshop and Illustrator on your laptop.
