Fukushima Café @ Waag Open Space

Fukushima Café is a free public event at Waag Open Space which addresses the issue of the March 11th, 2011 nuclear meltdown of the nuclear powerplant at Fukushima in Japan.

Fukushima is currently in the news regarding the facilities pollution of the Pacific Ocean and the possibility of a “nuclear fuel pool fire”. Human error and, or another earthquake can make the situation worse. The Café will visualize the scale of the disaster and bring people in direct contact with experts to help explain the situation and link other people via telecommunications to help disseminate information about what is really happening in Japan.

The goal of the event is to help activate a “pollination” process to help generate ideas on how to solve the problem, create new connections between people concerned about the issue and cut through the “sarcophagus of silence” that seems to have been placed over the subject by the mainstream media.

Fukushima Café is open to all who are interested to be informed about the situation and who are interested to regard the situation at Fukushima as a multidisciplinary design and communications challenge.

Fukushima Café is an initiative of Graham Smith and Waag and will be moderated by Graham Smith. Next Fukushima Café will happen in Berlin.
