SURFnet and Waag are organizing a competition focussed on apps for higher education and research. On August 15th, the contest starts at SURFnet in Utrecht.
Students, developers, employees of higher education, researchers and start-ups are welcome Wednesday August 15th from 8 pm to join the kick-off at SURFnet. During the kick-off, Niels Floor (Shapers) speak about his experience with translating educational challenges into practical applications.
Similar to Apps for Amsterdam, Apps On works with theme owners. Within 5 different themes they introduce specific educational challenges and issues that are gathered from their own field of expertise. Examples of themes are 'Online Collaboration', 'Lifelong Learning' and 'ePortfolio'. The kick-off provides an opportunity for a meet and greet with the theme owners.

The importance of good apps in higher education and research is increasing. Therefore SURFnet and Waag start the competition Apps On. This explores the possibilities of apps and stimulates the development of mobile apps that can ensure quality in higher education and research.
