Waag developed a special data visualization for 'The Spiral', an interactive TV series about the disappearance of six famous works of art throughout Europe. The data visualization enabled the audience to actively participate in the series on the website. The series was broadcasted on Dutch television fall 2012.

During five episodes The Spiral tells the story of a Copenhagen-based artist community (The Warehouse) and its charismatic 'Banksy-like’ leader Arturo. He comes up with a plan to steal six world famous paintings from museums in six European countries.

On the project website the audience could participate in The Spiral with online challenges. This was shown in a real-time data visualization designed by Waag. In the end, this visualization provided an impressive final presentation.
