Waag Futurelab
Participants wanted: workshop on data and algorithmic rights

How does the municipality use algorithms? Help make this more transparent!

Algorithms are increasingly involved in decisions about benefits, taxes, regulations, and other municipal matters - often withous us even noticing. That needs to change.

That's why Waag Futurelab, together with the municipality of Amsterdam, is developing a tool to give residents more insight into their data and algorithmic rights. The tool will be designed to make it easier to understand these rights, exercise them, and submit related requests or questions. For this, we need your input!

What will we do?

On 25 June, we are hosting the workshop Rights to AI & Algorithms. During the session, we will discuss situations in which algorithms can raise questions or cause problems. We want to hear what matters to you. Share your experiences and ideas on topics such as:

  • what would you like to know about an algorithm that affects you?
  • how would you want to request more information about an algorithm?
  • what would you need in order to make such a request?
  • what would you expect from a response from the municipality?

Who is it for, and who will be there?

The workshop is interactive and brings together residents of Amsterdam, employees of the municipality of Amsterdam, and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Your experiences and ideas will directly inform the development of the tool and help ensure it better reflects the real needs of residents.

Your input matters, sign up and join the conversation!
