The Dutch government can create added value with its data infrastructure if it better aligns it with society's information needs. In this position paper, we argue for a public data infrastructure that contributes to social challenges and general well-being. We describe the limitations of the current data policy, define a public data infrastructure, provide practical examples and conclude with recommendations on how to develop it.
