Rewatch: Preparing for uncertain times - Fieldwork with Adriana Knouf

Dive into Adriana Knouf’s work of the strange, alien and other! On Thursday 18 November, Waag’s artist in residence Adriana Knouf organised an outdoor exploration and indoors writing workshop. The artist also provided inspiration for writing through site-specific explorations, promps and how-to’s for small scale sampling and intimate relating.

Last but not least, Knouf also presented previous and current works, elaborating on her work on xenology: the strange, alien and other. Which can be seen in the video of the livestream below.

  • We chatted with Adriana when she first landed in Amsterdam, on ‘scary’ genetic engineering, the health care system for transgenders in the U.S. and the Netherlands, and estrogen hormone patches in outer space.
  • Waag’s T-Factor team teamed up with Adriana Knouf and earth scientist Esmee Geerken to broaden, deepen and include more narratives of non-human entities in the act of fieldnoting. It resulted in Lichen, Soil and Deep Time | Fieldnote #3: speculative writing. Check it out.
