Context Research
The Mobifree project aims to develop and test alternatives to mobile software that better fit values that many people care about. Would you and your organisation like to participate in a pilot test?
The Mobifree project team is working to better understand the values that mobile software should meet, and develop technology that fits those values. That development does not start from scratch, but on the basis of already well-functioning technologies that we adapt - including an operating system, an app store, cloud storage and various communication apps.
Added value for you or your organisation: we offer the opportunity to try out an open source mobile phone for free and provide feedback that can make it improve. User experiences play an important role within Mobifree. We are curious to know how your preferences and considerations translate into mobile phone requirements. By providing feedback, you can ensure that open source alternatives for mobile phones fit your preferences and values and are also user-friendly. We therefore invite you and your organisation to participate in a pilot.
Time investment:
Pilot test Murena phone (duration: 2 months, start February or March 2025.) During the pilot test, each participating employee will receive a Murena phone with pre-installed apps and features for free for 2 months. Participants use the phones for work and possibly also privately and can co-determine, which aspects of the phone they want to test.
At the beginning of the pilot test period, we do a workshop to determine the specific requirements we want to look at during the test period (1.5 hours)
Halfway through the test period, we do 1 group interview to see how the phones match the requirements and how people evaluate them.
After pilot testing, we will do a feedback focus group (duration: 2.5 hours, location: Waag Futurelab, Nieuwmarkt 4, Amsterdam or at your office or online) and a short online survey (duration: 15-30 minutes) on their user experiences.
A maximum of 30 people can participate. It is also possible for a smaller group of employees to participate (one or more employees) who might enjoy testing our fully open source smartphones.
